The brief:

You’ve been approached by Wayfarer, a travel website, to create a new landing page and mobile app design. Wayfarer is a place for travelers to discover new locations to visit around the world.

Although it doesn’t directly sell any trips, flights, or accommodation on the site, people use it as a tool for researching where to travel next, based on their preferences.

Wayfarer’s target audience is anyone between the ages of 21 and 30 who travels frequently and is in search of new adventures.

The challenge:

Design the homepage that users will see when they first find Wayfarer.

Coordinate the design with the landing page and create 3 sample screens for an iOS or Android mobile smartphone app.

Wayfarer Desktop Screen

Based on the brief, I designed the homepage’s hero section as a search feature so users can immediately look up their desired destinations. I also decided to highlight popular travel guides as content to assist with their research.

I used elements such as image cards, a mix of grid systems, and text hierarchy to categorize the content design, making it easy for users to scan the page.

Mobile App

Welcome screen: I kept design elements consistent like colors and rounded corners.

Destinations screen: I recreated the desktop screen to be responsive for mobile screens.

Details screen: Since this isn't a booking site, I kept the contents informational and incorporated other features on the site like guides, maps, and accommodations. I added a community board section to include a social media aspect.
